Engineering Community Mourns the Loss of Colleague and Friend Mary Hammer Menzel

Mary has been providing political advocacy and business development for Binkley & Barfield since 2007 and played a key role in getting us positioned for winning significant projects.

She was a tenacious business developer who never gave up making contacts and connecting people. She loved what she did, and that’s what made her so successful. When she walked into the door to greet you, she opened with “Do I know you?” or “I need a hug.” We sure wish we could get a hug now.

Please continue with your prayers for Mary and her family, as well as our city, state, and country from this horrible virus. Stay safe, wash your hands, maintain physical distancing, and protect your family.

  1. A dear friend and an advocate for woman and political leaders for many years. ???? for Roger and the family.

  2. So sad to hear of Mary’s passing. As a dynamo in the industry, she will be lovingly remembered and will be deeply missed. Prayers are continuing for Roger’s recovery. God Bless Roger and please shine a light of wellness over him.

  3. Mary was the most gracious and spiritual person I have ever met. Her confidence and ability to bring people together was a true gift. I am a benefactor of the path she made in the AEC industry for women in business development roles. She was a trailblazer that broke down walls. I will miss her welcoming arms and smiling face. She never failed to ask how you or loved ones were doing first. My heart is so heavy with this loss but I am so blessed to have known her and to have learned from her.

I am shocked and saddened to hear of the passing of Mary. While working at the Port of Houston, I got to know Mary who made frequent visits promoting her clients to do business with the Port. She was always so full of energy. Also her Christian faith was always part of her way of life. She will be missed.
