The City of Pearland held the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony this morning for the Regency Park subdivision. In attendance from BBI was BBI Executive Vice President Dave Hamilton and Public Infrastructure Vice President Todd Calvin.
Binkley & Barfield, Inc. provided engineering services for the reconstruction of 6,400 LF of pavement, 3,100 LF of waterline, and 1,200 LF of storm sewer in the Regency Park subdivision in Pearland, Texas. The City requested BBI to initially evaluate the condition of the pavement and utilities within the boundaries of the 50-year-old subdivision. BBI prepared a Preliminary Engineering Report (PER) outlining alternatives and costs. Included in the alternatives was the feasibility of moving sanitary sewer lines from back-lot easements to the street in front of each residence.
A public meeting was held during the Preliminary Phase to gather input from the subdivision’s residents considering the proposed improvements. The meeting was a success, in part, due to the City making some design modifications to address residents’ concerns regarding secondary access to the subdivision. Regency Park has many mature oak trees, most over 50 years old and within the public right-of-way. The pavement reconstruction was designed and constructed to protect these trees. An urban forester was utilized by BBI to prepare tree protection plans to accomplish this goal. Input from the public concerning the trees was also solicited by the City. The project was competitively bid.
