We are celebrating Engineers Week and are featuring some of our engineers here at the Binkley & Barfield Family of Companies!
Q&A with Shauna Weinmann, PE
What has been one of your favorite BBI projects to have been a part of?
The most favorite project I’ve worked on to date has been the Collingsworth HP and IP pipeline relocations. Being that the pipeline relocations are located in an environmentally hazardous area there were additional challenges and opportunities to think outside the box when solving the utility relocations. There was also more depth to the environmental review, interaction with the project owners, and overall sequencing of work.
What made you want to become a Utility engineer?
I had initially wanted to be an architect, but found that I wasn’t too creative (nor did I like to make models) so I sought after other related fields. I initially started out in the heavy civil field working on dams, levees, and roads and eventually transitioned into utility relocations.
If you weren’t an engineer, what career could you see yourself having?
Actually my original declared major was child development. I think I like the idea of making a difference or impact in a positive way and I think being a teacher was my initial ‘go to’ option.
Describe your perfect weekend.
My perfect weekend is getting up early- but not early enough to where I’m not able to sleep in some- having an awesome breakfast, then spending the day on the water or outdoors with my husband and son.
