BBI’s Construction Management team recently saw their first assigned group project to completion! After more than two years of construction, two lanes of the FM 1488 overpass at FM 149 in Magnolia, Texas opened Monday, February 26, 2018. BBI was selected to perform Utility Coordination, Subsurface Utility Engineering, and Utility Inspection services for the entire project and was entrusted by TxDOT to review and approve permit applications for the proposed relocation.
The City of Magnolia honored the Butler family—one of the founding families in the Magnolia area—by naming the FM 1488 overpass “Butler’s Crossing.” The dedication of the overpass pays homage to the Butler family, specifically Boney “Sonny Boy” Butler, who was one of the oldest living residents of the area before his death in 1989 at the age of 93. According to city information, the Butler family was known for assisting travelers passing through by providing water to them and their horses from their family’s well.
The Greater Magnolia Parkway Chamber of Commerce celebrated by hosting a dedication ceremony on Monday which allowed the Butler family to take their first walk across the new overpass, which now provides a direct route cross FM 149 and the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad tracks near Magnolia High School.
We congratulate our Construction Management group on a job well done and for successfully completing a 3-year long project!
