Shishir Manjunath, of BBI’s SUE group, attended the 2nd Annual Utility Investigation School organized by the Trenchless Technology Center at Louisiana Tech University in association with ASCE’s Utility Engineering and Surveying institute (UESI). This was a 5-day short course program held in Ruston, LA from February 26th to March 2nd.
There were nearly 40 participants from all over the country and from different utility companies attending this course, including one participant from Canada and one from India. The course had discussions on utility investigations, ASCE 38 standard manual, SUE quality levels, latest tools available to detect and map the utilities, 3D mapping, and 3D models. Attendees had the opportunity to test out Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) and other instruments showcased by experts in the field of geophysics and subsurface utility engineering. Everyone also got the opportunity to visit the National Trenchless Technology Research facility at the Louisiana Tech university during the course.
