Wednesday, August 7, marks the fourth annual Professional Engineers Day by the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE). The first license was issued 112 years ago to Charles Bellamy in Wyoming, and today there are more than 820,000 PE licenses nationwide!
Why are we celebrating?
PE licensure is the engineering profession’s highest standard of competence, a symbol of achievement, and assurance of quality. Professional Engineers Day was created to recognize licensed PEs and show our appreciation for the hard work they do every day!
Are you interested in getting licensed? Here are your next steps:
- Earn a four-year degree in engineering from an accredited engineering program
- Pass the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam
- Complete four years of progressive engineering experience under a PE
- Pass the Principles and Practice of Engineering (PE) exam
