Binkley & Barfield | DCCM’s Richard Arvizu, PE, CFM; Dave Hamilton, PE; Chris Campbell, PE; Li Chen, PE; and Monica Aizpurúa recently attended the 2023 Texas Water Conference from April 9-12 in Houston, Texas.
This annual event, sponsored by the Water Environment Association of Texas (WEAT) and the Texas American Water Works Association (TAWWA), caters to professionals in the wastewater and water industry, including water quality engineers, treatment plant technicians, scientists, government officials, regulatory agency personnel, manufacturers and their agents, libraries, universities, and individuals concerned with protecting public health and the environment.
Throughout the conference, Binkley & Barfield | DCCM members networked with fellow industry peers at our established booth in the main conference hall and attended several technical sessions and special events. However, the best session that we attended was given by our very own Chris Campbell! Chris presented on Binkley & Barfield | DCCM’s recent project for North Harris County Regional Water Authority (NHCRWA). The project was an 84-inch diameter water transmission line designed and built as part of NHCRWA’s ongoing work to provide surface water to the citizens of northwest Harris County. The presentation specifically focused on the 960-foot-long curved tunnel included in the design that crossed SH 249. The tunnel was curved to avoid conflicts with multiple highway bridge structures in the area and was 40 feet deep to avoid conflicts with multiple petroleum pipelines. Construction of this project was the culmination of an ongoing 19-year project between Binkley & Barfield | DCCM and NHCRWA.
More than 500 companies exhibited at the conference this year, and we were honored to participate in such a huge event. So be sure to look out for our booth at next year’s Texas Water Conference in Fort Worth!
