Stewart Substation to West Bay Substation

Galveston, Texas

This project included an accelerated schedule to perform SUE QL-B designation around 257 transmission poles spanning 14 miles. Binkley & Barfield | DCCM performed the work in four phases with multiple SUE crews and CADD teams working concurrently as data was uploaded from the field throughout the day. This challenging project was completed on time, but then the client wanted 160 SUE QL-A test holes in 21 locations in just two weeks. Binkley & Barfield | DCCM brought the full force of the company to sequence and coordinate the one-call, utility representatives, multiple vacuum trucks, 10 SUE crews, multiple survey crews, and a large group of CADD technicians from several Binkley & Barfield | DCCM departments. Further challenges were severe weather interruptions and soft ground conditions. This project demanded that everyone pull together and seamlessly work as a single team. Binkley & Barfield | DCCM delivered everything in the required time and within budget. The replacement poles were designed and ordered in time for the construction installation and Electric Reliability Council of Texas shutout.
