Binkley & Barfield | DCCM Attends the 2022 TML Annual Conference and Exhibition

Binkley & Barfield just got back from the 110th Texas Municipal League (TML) Annual Conference and Exhibition. The event had nearly 400 exhibitors and brought more than 2,800 appointed and elected Texas city officials, including mayors, council members, city secretaries, city managers, city department directors, and municipal professionals to the Henry B. González Convention Center in San Antonio, Texas.

The Binkley & Barfield | DCCM booth was inspired by the coffee house of the popular TV show Friends’ Central Perk. It came fully equipped with coffee, tea, bakery treats, collectors’ coffee cups, giveaways, and your F.R.I.E.N.D.S at Binkley & Barfield | DCCM, who will always “be there for you!” ? ? ? ?

The 3-day conference was kicked off with the Presentation of Awards featuring Dr. Rick Rigsby with his session on the Responsibility of Leaders in Times of Uncertainty, followed by Greenhouse sessions that included a presentation from the Texas Cable Association on universal broadband and a session presented by Freese & Nichols on how to stay ahead of growth, among many other well-informed sessions ranging from topics about Texas sales tax, the infrastructure bill, COVID’s impact on employees’ mental health, improving sustainability, and economic development.

The second day’s luncheon keynote speaker was the transformational leader and author Adam Markel, talking about the way forward and having the capacity to leverage uncertainty and change to build long-term growth. He shared innovative recovery techniques and impactful resilience-building rituals to help immediately improve your capacity to address stress and avoid costly burnout.

The conference wrapped up with the closing session and brunch featuring author and placemaking expert, Melody Warnick discussing how to Build a Welcoming Community. She shared statistics and stories about the good that results when we build communities to attract all kinds of people, from visitors to newcomers, young families to senior citizens, and immigrants to “old-timers.”

Thank you to everyone who helped put this successful event together. We had a blast at the conference and enjoyed getting to meet so many people from all over the state. We are looking forward to next year and seeing everyone again!
